It’s not always easy to find a local coven so many of us are solitary practitioners. The internet, however, offers new opportunities for those who would like to practice in a group but, for whatever reason, cannot join a community coven. Today there are many online pagan groups. Pagan websites are numerous and many include forums (this site included) but there are more alternatives yet.
The Blue Moonlight Coven, http://www.bluemoonlightcoven.com offers Sabat and Esbat rituals conducted using The Palace chat software (http://www.thepalace.com ). The Palace is a graphical chat program that was developed by Jim Blumgardner and first introduced late in 1995. Since then thousands of independent Palace severs have emerged addressing almost every topic imaginable from science fiction to religion and about everything in-between.
Palace differs from IRC and other text based chat programs by using a graphical background and allowing each user an avatar of their choice. The user’s avatar can be positioned anywhere against this graphical background and the text is displayed in balloons just like comic strips. This provides a whole new dimension to online chat.
At Blue Moonlight Coven there are various backgrounds for different occasions. Tonight we are meeting in the New Moon room for the New Moon Esbat. Moony (the coven Priestess) also offers online classes at different levels of Wicca study as well as other topics like reiki. Rituals are typically open to class participants and initiated coven members. While rituals are not generally “Open to the public”, exceptions are occasionally made for serious practitioners.
So if you want more than solitary practice try a visit to Blue Moonlight Coven. Everything you need to download the software and connect to Blue Moonlight Palace is provided on the website.
I desperately need help on wicca. I don't really know what I'm doing and have already experienced the power that I can unleash. Please help me! I need a teacher! Please!
Posted by: NightWolf at March 11, 2004 05:55 AMAs I pointed out there are some good alternatives for the solitary practitioner. Blue Moonlight Coven is one http://www.bluemoonlightcoven.com/. They teach classes and have online rituals.
There are others, MANY others, teaching online. Phyllis Currot's Temple of Ara will be starting educational programs in the near future. They've worked hard to get tings in place and I'm sure it will be well worth waiting for.
There are also some excellent books. I highly recommend Phyllis Currott's books Witch Crafting, and Book of Shadows. Scott Cunningham's series are excellent too.
Start by learning what wicca is about. Don't worry about spells and magic now, learn the history and philosophy of Wicca. Wicca is a religion worshiping the sacred in Feminine and Masculine. We worship all of nature and how it all relates to itself. Until you understand these things controlling (by controlling I mean making things happen the way you want them too) them is not possible. To learn Wicca is to Live Wiccan. Its to embrace the Goddess and God as our loving mother and father. Its trusting them and letting them show us the way. Pray to them, let them fill you with their goodness and you will have nothing to be afraid of.
